This is a very good place, Marusca & family are deserving of all their good reviews. We were treated to an excellent & generous Tuscan family dinner at the end of our month long stay, which was a highlight of our trip. We have no hesitation to recommend this rental! The outdoor spaces are large, and there is an outdoor charcoal grill. The house is properly restored with high quality doors & windows, screens + shutters on all the windows. It is a true 3 bedroom/2 bathroom, larger inside than it appears in the photos. There is a fireplace for a wood fire which we used many evenings (bought the firewood at the grocery). There is a smaller, completely separate unit on the ground level, however the entrance for this unit is on the other side of the house so we rarely saw/heard the other guest. The hosts parents live 200 meters away and are available if needed for any problems, but were not obtrusive. We did have two minor plumbing problems which were dealt with immediately. WiFi was fast enough and trouble-free. Here are a few more points that may help families plan travel here (we are a family of 4, two boys age 10 and 11): 1) The house is an easy 800 m walk to the village with sparse, sensible traffic on the way. It seemed safe enough that the kids could walk to the village themselves in daytime. 2) Likewise the gravel farm roads behind the house were quiet and we used them as our running route with no problems. 3) The village (Castiglion Fibocchi) had everything we needed and we had good, friendly service everywhere (despite speaking almost no Italian). For more choice in shopping & restaurants, we went in to Arezzo (15 minute drive) from time to time. 4) Families probably want a car here to do day trips to Arezzo, Siena, Florence, spa/thermal baths, etc., but there seemed to be regular regional buses through the village - confirm this with the hosts if travelling without a car. 5) The 'Il Gigante' adventure park (rope courses and ziplines) near Florence was a hit with our boys - we went there a couple of times. 6) We were here off-season (Oct 20 - Nov. 20) so the pool (and the larger pool at a hotel nearby) were closed - kids' pools (ie. with water slides, etc.) seem to all be outdoor and close in fall & winter. There are community centre pools in Arezzo, and kids are welcome in the thermal baths pools, but one adult must go in with them if under 14 years.

What can one say about a place that you felt like royalty. The Holiday House was beyond beautiful and the view was just phenomenal. Both Marusca and her husband Gianni were wonderful hosts. They took care of us like we were their best friends. The rooms were very spacious and quite comfortable and there is not enough I could say to about how we felt staying here. I totally recommend it to anyone that wants to stay and relax or like us travel by day but make it back by evening and enjoy the surroundings. There was a great bakery (YUM) and we visited two grocery stores but liked the selection in DESPAR more. Gianni recommended a few restaurants and he was right--the service and the people who worked there and owned them were very hospitable. Thank you for everything!! TOTALLY RECOMMEND--BEAUTIFUL PLACE

After a whirlwind tour of Europe, we had been looking forward to relaxing at Marusca's house in Tuscany. And it was fabulous! The house is beautiful, and obviously has been renovated with love and care. Marusca was a lovely host, welcoming us with a bottle of wine from her father-in-law's vineyard, breakfast goodies and biscotti. Castiglion Fibocchi is a very quiet town, but the locals are welcoming and the pizza fantastic. Just a word of warning about Sundays – pretty much everything is shut, so if you're not after pizza for dinner then it's worth stocking up! We ate in most of the time we were there, and used the barbecue. We highly recommend Marusca's as a place to stay in Tuscany! We stayed in AirBnbs for most of the time we were in Europe, and Marusca's was by far the nicest (and best value for money). It's also a quick drive from Arezzo, which conveniently has a car rental opposite the train station.

We are a family of 5 and stayed at La Campanelle for 3 days in August, in the top apartment of the house. We found it large, well appointed and spotless. We were welcomed by Marusca's in-laws and had a booklet with instructions and suggestions of visits. The garden is pleasant and the kids enjoyed the pool. We enjoyed BBQing one night.
Deborah Kross - New York USA - August 2014
A truly lovely appartment in Tuscany. Spacious rooms and common space. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The hosts could not have been more nice and welcoming -- giving us several recommendations for activities in the area and a bottle of their family wine. The pool outside is a wonderful addition! We had a truly memorable stay.

Great! Great! Great! Marusca and her family are really lovely people and the apartement is perfect. We definitely come back in next year.

We had such a wonderful time in Castiglion Fibocchi - Marusca and Gianni were wonderful hosts, the neighborhood has everything you need to have a very nice stay in a beautiful, quiet relaxing house. The drive to Florence was one hour on the highway, longer through the back roads, but worth seeing the countryside. Everything was clean and ready - directions were good and we would highly recommend this stay to anyone. We were 5 and there was plenty of room.

We had such a lovely time at the Holiday House. Gianni greeted us with his wonderful smile and a complimentary bottle of Chianti. We learned about the family history and found ourselves appreciating our stay even more. I would recommend staying at the Holiday House to anyone coming to Tuscany for a short long stay. It is very clean and well stocked with utensils to be able to cook, which keeps costs done for anyone on a budget. The surrounding village is pleasant and has places to shop.

We couldn't have dreamed of a better place to spend a week in Tuscany! We (a group of six) had an ambitious plan to visit all the major sights around (Siena, Montepulciano, San Marino, Florence, Venice), and the location worked great for us. It might be tricky to find the house with a GPS, so please read carefully all the instructions from Marusca. But once you are there, you will fully enjoy the independence of this place and the vineyards around. The appartment is fully equiped. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, full size kitchen, dishwasher, washing mashine, iron, toaster… everything you might need. Comfortable beds and fresh linen. The house was fully renovated recently, beautifully decorated, and it is exceptionally clean. Feels like home! It was a very, very enjoyable stay, made extra special by the wonderful hosts. Marusca and Gianni are great, amazing people! Though we arrived very late (at midnight instead of 6pm), due to some unexpected difficulties, we received a very warm welcome upon arriving. They really love the house and the guests. We received a lot of attention and help, and at the same time, we were fully independent. After only a week in Castiglion Fibocchi we had a feeling that we are leaving our old friends. I highly recommend this place!

Marusca and Gianni have a wonderful villa in Tuscany. Our stay was great and they were unbelievably helpful in advising us on places to visit, restaurants at which to eat, and even helped us print a last-minute museum voucher since we didn't have a printer -- not to mention accommodating our infant with a crib and high chair. Castiglion Fibocchi is a nice starting point for driving Tuscany and not so far from Florence that you can't take the train in and out for a day trip. Don't miss the prosciutto at the local butcher. Would definitely stay here again!
Erin - Michigan - US - June 2014
We decided to stay in this villa to use as a base for trips into Chianti and Sienna areas. It is very close to a well supplied little town with supermarkets and Bakeries and definately away from major tourist traps. We found it around an hours drive to most of the places we wanted to visit. (Sienna, Cortona, Pienza, Montalcino, Monteriggioni, Volpaia). I like driving so was not a major issue. Make sure you have data card so you can use google maps. Marusca and her Husband were great hosts, inviting us to dinner with their parents and family. Drinking wine made by father, and learning about traditional Jousting compitition that was on in Arezzo that weekend. They have put a lot of work into new pool and the garden is lovely. The 3 bedroom place is upstairs and has great views of vineyards and country side. Downstars has small studio. It is in small cluster of other houses....chatter of families and kids playing add to the local atmosphere. So if you don't mind a bit of driving, and sharing garden with other guests then this is a lovely place to experience local tuscan life with very helpful and generous hosts.

Words cannot describe how perfect this place is! Marusca, Gianni, their children and in-laws made us feel like part of the family! The apartment is perfect for exploring all over Tuscany! Gianni gave us the name of a friend of his, Luca, who has a small but beautiful winery nearby. We had a private tour and tasting. We now have a taste for truly great Chianti! We went to Maruscas as strangers and left as friends! We will return!

We really enjoyed our stay at Marusca and Gianni's beautiful holiday house. The home is extremely clean and it is renovated to a very high standard, with high quality bathroom, kitchen and washing facilities. The internet is also high-speed and reliable, which came in handy as we planned our day trips around this gorgeous part of Italy. We stayed with our two children and we all loved it. The kids played outside and we also took advantage of the hotel pool just a few minutes drive away. As others have said in this review, the best part about our stay has to be meeting the hosts, who are warm and generous people. They made us feel very welcome and also offered great tips for day-trips and things to do. We also met their lovely parents and children and we had a wonderful and delicious dinner together in their winery under the stars. This was our first trip to Italy and it couldn't have been better! I would highly recommend the "Relax and Love in Tuscany"!!! We hope to meet Marusca and her family again one day.

Thank you very much Marusca and her lovely husband for your beautiful house (also thank you for the jam, cookies and milk:))
At first it was a little bit hard to find but after we learned the direction it was easy. The house was clean and practical for us. We are 7 ( 2+5 children). In the house, everything is present, also the washing machine. It is close to arezzo and to the main road.
Thank you and good luck!!

We stayed here for five days in July 2013 and enjoyed it very much. The apartment was perfect for the five of us. Both the inside and the courtyard outside are beautiful as is the surrounding countryside. Marusca and her family are very warm and friendly people. They were also a big help when we needed it. Their wine and cake was also fantastic! The location is great for small trips to other places of importance in Tuscany. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to relax and enjoy the sweet life in this wonderful area.

Tuscany, everything I have read, all the movies I have seen, everything I have imagined about this plce definately came true here. Marusca was amazing, a very warm, generous person. She greeted us when we arrived late with a smile on her face and took the time to show us around. The apartment was fantastic and had lots of room for 5 of us. The views were great and it was very relaxing and peaceful. We left reluctantly as we had such a fantastic time. Marusca and her mother in law came before we left and we felt like we had known them for years. Highly recommended, unbelievable experience.

Marusca and her husband Gianni were the perfect hosts. They greeted us warmly, providing a bottle of family wine, and homemade Tuscan biscoti and marmalade as a welcome present. We had a flat tyre when we arrived and Gianni organised the repair and stayed with us while it was done at a local garage.
The house itself is very lovely and just like the photos. Roomy, ultra-clean and decorated with interesting art from the region. Two bathrooms and three bedrooms was ideal for our family of 4.
The linen is luxurious! Being on the top floor meant we had glorious views of the Tuscan countryside. It was a great base from which to explore Tuscany - we would thoroughly recommend.

"Fabulous house - exceeds all expectations"
Set in the beautiful hills and wine region of Italy, this gem is a real find!
The apartment has everything you need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The area is quiet and only a short distance from the fab arezzo. The Bianchi family are a delight. Gianni, Marusca, Renato and Graziella made us feel very welcome showing us all around the property. Nothing was too much trouble! They asked us and the lovely couple from NY downstairs to join them for a family dinner. Not only was that a great night but they let us come early and showed us how to make great pasta, fabulous zucchini sauce and the Tuscan starter - Crostini Neri on French toast soaked in Vin Santo. To die for!!
Showed us how families live in Tuscany and our explorations around the countryside gave us a great insight into the joys of this wonderful region.
Would recommend this place to anyone! Thank you Bianchi family for a wonderful experience on our holiday.

We highly recommend staying at Marusca and Gianni's Tuscan apartment.
We were two families and stayed in this excellent place. We cannot say enough about our stay in Tuscany and about Marusca, Gianni, their beautiful daughters, and very gentle Gianni's parents, Graziella and Renato. Graziella made a delicious cake and we tasted a more than perfect and very tasty Vin Santo and Grappa produced by talented Renato.
The house is great, both for the quality of the apartment and the location! Castilion Fibocchi is a very small and quite place. This traditional Italian village is so charming. The apartment itself was spotlessly clean, fully equipped and very spacious. Marusca greeted us with her warm smile, a beautiful cantuccini cakes, jam, and a delicious bottle of wine from Renato's grapes. We also spent altogether a wonderful and unforgettable dinner at Gianni's parents’ house.
Marusca also provided us with additional information what else to visit and where to go for shopping.
We all miss this place and we would definitely stay here again.
Grazie mille Marusca and Gianni!
Thanks a lot - Merci beaucoup - Hvala na svemu !

We cannot say enough about Marusca, Gianni and our stay in Tuscany. The house is great! Marusca was so easy to deal with and incredibly helpful. Not only did she give us great feedback on our potential itinerary she actually met us in Arezzo and led us right to the house where we met Gianni. He then proceeded to help me get directions to an outstanding restaurant called Osteria Locanda il Canto del Maggio which is a little far and hard to find but amazing. Another great restaurant that was close by, but also a little hard to find was Ristorante La Luna nel Pozzo. It is in a town of 15 people. Just make sure to stay left when you approach a castle looking type building to get to the parking lot or you will drive around it and into an incredibly narrow alley which you will be lucky to get through without scraping your car. The house is clean, comfortable and just 20 minutes from Arezzo (which is definitely worth walking around) and not far from other great places. We had 5 people total including our 2 teenagers and my father-in-law. We went to Siena, Cortona, Pisa, Lucca, and Cinque Terre which might be the highlight of any trip (highly recommend driving right to Riomaggiore, parking there and taking train to other towns despite what you might read about difficult driving). We parked in Arezzo to take the train into Florence 2 days. While this was easy, I think in hindsight I might have researched parking lots that are easy to find in Florence and driven to save time and cost since the train was 78 euro ($100) each roundtrip for 5 people. Everyone discouraged driving into Florence, but my phone's GPS worked pretty well throughout so I think we could have avoided going into the no driving zone. If you are trying to decide where to stay, I promise you will not be disappointed by "Relax & Love in Tuscany"

Not going to lie, we were starting to expect medium to low quality out of the places we stayed with airbnb until we stayed here. This place was absolutely amazing. We shared the apartment with another couple and there was plenty of space. Marusca and her husband left us wine, cake, and plenty of fire wood to enjoy since we were there in the winter. Can't wait to go back someday!

We had an amazing time in Tuscany! Marusca and Gianni really went out of their way to welcome us into their home. We were greeted upon arrival with a yummy dessert and wine made by Gianni's parents. The place was spotless and everything in the flat was brand new. Arezzo, the nearby town, was very charming and the location of the flat wasn't too far from Siena, Montepulciano and Florence. It was wonderful to stay in a place where we could visit the town but also be far enough away to see the stars twinkle at night. A very relaxing and pleasant stay. We were honored to be hosted by such a lovely family!

I highly recommend staying at Marusca and Gianni's Tuscan apartment. I stayed here with my husband and our two children aged (almost) 3 and 4. It was an excellent place to stay, both for the quality of the apartment and the location. Castiglion Fibocchi is a very small, traditional Italian village. the shops are closed on Saturday afternoons and Sundays, and no English is spoken in the town. there are just a few simple shops, a butcher, a great bakery, a small supermarket, green grocer, and a hairdresser, but the off-the-beaten-track style of this place is part of its charm. You definitely need a car to get the most out of this area. The apartment itself was spotlessly clean, well equipped with kitchen utensils, hairdryer, and it was very spacious. Marusca greeted us with a beautiful cake, jam, and a delicious bottle of wine from grapes grown on the property. Like the other guests that have written here, we were warmly welcomed by their family, meeting both their parents and their beautiful children. The building is located at the back of the family vineyard, which added to the romance and beauty of the setting. thre a very few negatives that I can think of. I will mention that I found the mattress in the master bedroom quite hard, and someone with a bad back might have problems with it. Even my husband who likes a firm mattress commented that it was quite hard. And there is only one two seater couch n the living room, which is not much furniture for an apartment that sleeps six, though Marusca mentioned that they were going to buy an extra couch soon. it wasn't a huge problem for us as the kids went to bed early, but a bigger group of adults might find there is not enough furniture to get comfortable. I would definitely stay here again. The apartment is great for families, especially those with young children. it is quite child friendly, and the courtyard downstairs is fenced and gated, so it is easy for the kids to run around and play without running off anywhere. My favorite place was my seat by the kitchen window. In the evenings I would send the kids outside to play and sit at the window gazing at the Tuscan sunset while sipping on a glass of wine. aaah, I miss this place! I would definitely stay here again. Grazie Marusca and Gianni!

Our stay in Tuscany was wonderful. We were very well welcomed by Marusca and Gianni who are very thoughtful as well as the mother and father of Gianni who invited us for a supper in their gardens, a very beautiful evening in good company. Marusca and Gianni took time to describe us neighborhood and to recommad us to visit for our week in the region. The apartment is magnificent, very clean, quiet and very comfortable. It was provided with everything for our stay. We keep a magnificent memories of our stay in this beautiful region.

It was a great experience. I felt I had known Marusca and her family for years. It just didn't feel like the first time. They were so nice to us - their passion for their region, food , their wine, it was all so real and humble. They served us home made Tuscan food, which was really delicious. The house is also very clean and comfortable and great little towns close by.

Excellent location, villa and hosts!”
We loved our stay at Cappannelle! We were about 3 hours late arriving (due to various problems) but our hosts waited patiently for us without complaint. They made us very welcome and the villa was lovely. There was a bottle of their own Chianti red wne and home-made cake waitign for us on our arival too!
The location is off the beaten track and yet close to the town so its easy to walk into town for shopping or eating out at the local restaurants (we highly recommend Jair, about 15 mins wal from the villa). We stayed in the main part of the villa (there is a 'Love Nest' on the ground floor suitable for couples). The three bedrooms are very nice and there are two bathrooms (each with a shower, toilet, bidet and sink). The beds are firm (due to being new), worth bearing in mind if you are used to soft matteresses.
The kitchen comes with everything you need except a washing machine. There is a laundrette in town but we washed everything in a sink and dried it outside on the clother maiden provided. In the hot sun the clothes dried very quickly.
There is a TV (flat-screen) in the lounge but when we were there reception was patchy. Fortunately it improved in the evenings so maybe it was related to atmospherics; not sure. As we were there during the Olympics 2012 we liked to catch-up with what was happening in the Games, especially with Team GB!
The patio is large, with a 3-seater swing seat with shade and there is a dining table and chairs (wth separate brolly for some shade). there is low lighitng for the evenings too. Parking is plentiful in the garden area and there is a BBQ available. There isn't a swimming pool (sadly as far as my daughter and wife were concerned!) but the hosts have negotiated a small discount at a local hotel (€5 each plus small charge for loungers and sun shade). Its about 1/2 hour walk or 5 minutes by car from the villa.
Localy there are nice walks you can do, though its best to set out early before it get too hot (at least in July/August! There are lovely places to visit within a short distance (either by bus, bike or car) and we highly recommend Laterina, Arezzon and Cortona. Further afield there are Siena, Perugia, Florence, Sam Gimignao and Monteriggioni, though a car is a must for these.
The locals are very friendly and helpful too and even with the little Italian we knew it was fairly easy to get by. Some local speak a smattering of English too and are happy to try it out and help!
Finally, we can't praise the hosts enough. As well their warm welcome, as were were staying a week at least, they had us to a meal at Gianni's parents (who own the vineyard and live 500m away), where we met the family and enjoyed some real Italian home cooking and hospitality!
Also, due to a mix-up back in the UK, my drving license did not arrive before we left for Italy. This really messed up our car hire. To cut a long story short, Gianni helped enormously with the use of his pc at his office and also with faxing the UK etc. As a result I got my license in time to finish our holiday with the car we had hired. Thank you so much Gianni!

This apartment was perfect for us as an adult family of four. This was not a basic holiday let but more like a home. Occupying the whole upstairs area accessed by outside stone stairs, the 3 bedrooms and two toilet/shower rooms off the communal sitting room area and a good size kitchen/diner provided space both for privacy and family interaction. Despite a heat wave during our stay, the apartment stayed sufficiently cool with closed window shutters and traditional tiled floor. A large patio area with a swing seat and table and chairs with a parasol enabled outside eating if desired. The well-equipped kitchen, with an unadvertised dishwasher, was ideal for our self-catering. This was helped by a very kind initial provisioning by our hostess including a home-baked cake and two jars of home-made jam and marmalade. The local town has shopping facilities but there is a huge IperCoop just 15 minutes away in Arezzo which has everything should anything have been forgotten. The location was perfect for travel in all directions with most major sightseeing places being reached by car within 1 hour to 1 hour30 depending on whether you use toll roads or not. All of this would be perfect on its own. The extra element which really makes this holiday stand out is Marusca and her family. Very friendly and kind, we felt that we were visting family that we didn't know we had! Although they are not on site (so no issue with privacy or self-containment) we knew they were available if required. We spent a delightful and memorable evening with them and the family and two other guests for dinner in the open air. We intend to return in another season!
