Time: The fair takes place on the first Sunday (and preciding Saturday) of every month in the historic town centre. Transformed into a large market place full of stalls, the center is crowded with antique dealers, collectors, onlookers and tourists. More than 500 antiques exhibitors come from all over Italy to meet here in Italy's oldest and most famous antiques fair.

Cortona Antiquaria

La Giostra del Saracino di Arezzo

This historical commemoration of an ancient joust is a unique and essential event for the citizens of Arezzo and attracts many visitors. Dating from the 14th Century the Giostra is held in the splendid setting of Piazza Grande

Crossbow shooting at Sansepolcro
Time: 2nd Sunday of September. This event is highly characteristic of Sansepolcro and evokes the ancient military exercise of cross bow shooting. Every year since 1951 the town centre has recreated the magical atmophere of its Renaissance period. in the costumes based on those originally painted by Piero della Francesca, people waving flags parade in front of the crossbow competition to the accompaniment of drums and trumpets. The whole event is in honor of St. Egidio.

I suggest You to visit Lucignano (on the way to Montepulciano), a small but really beautiful medieval village, set on the summit of a gentle hill in the Val di Chiana, on the border between the provinces of Arezzo and Siena, where on 27th May 2012 it will take place the "Maggiolata", the May Festival with its marvelous parade, a procession of symbolic allegorical floats adorned with flowers (a reconfirmation of the ancient celebrations for the new spring and summer seasons after the long winter period) and with the participation of musical and folk groups that come from all over Italy and also from abroad. For more information You may also visit the "Maggiolata" web site.

5. Food & Wine Tour

In Castiglion Fibocchi area there are several vineyards, first of all those of my father in law just close to the apartment which is really surrounded by vineyards.

We also recommend You to visit the vineyards and wineries of two of our friends:
- "Belardini" winery, little but beautiful and close to the apartment
- "Tenuta la Pineta" whose owner is available  to make a tour of the vineyards and winery. Normally he requires Euro 10,00/person.

We suggetst another important winery Il Borro

Both wineries make parts of the "Strada del Vino" (wine roads) association.

Siena area is really very beautiful and optimal for a wine tour.
Montepulciano is very famous for the "Nobile" wine.
There are several wineries to visit in Montepulciano area. I give You the address of a web site, in English, where You can find a list of wineries in Montepulciano area and make Your choice.

Note that on Sunday 27th May 2012 there will be the event "Cantine Aperte" (Open Wineries) where You can visit the wineries usually at a lower price.
